On a whim, I decided to enter the Maine Romance Writers “Strut Your Stuff” contest for 2020 (for unpublished works). I found out about the contest the day before the deadline, and had to submit Sanctuary’s “back cover blurb”—which I hadn’t yet written. I managed to whip something up, and I guess the judges liked it well enough, because lo and behold, I’m a finalist! The first 800 words of Chapter 1 are now in the hands of Lynnette Novak at The Seymour Agency, who will choose the contest winner in May.
In the meantime, I’m still editing and editing and editing Sanctuary, and it feels like there’s no end in sight—although I know that there is, I just have to keep plugging away. And I really believe the story is better and tighter than its ever been. At some point—hopefully soon—I’ll post little snippets of it here or on my Facebook page. Keep an eye out!
How’s everyone holding up these days? I read recently that “all of us are not in the same boat, but we are weathering the same storm.” This is so true, and each of us will emerge in our own way. In the meantime, please be mindful that while your boat may be experiencing calm seas, others might be shipwrecked. Please be kind!
Congratulations, dear Cat, for being a finalist in the Maine Romance Writers writing contest! That’s great news, and well deserved. Sanctuary is a gem, can’t wait for you to publish!
