I was always an avid reader, but didn’t discover Jane Austen until my love of a certain British actor led me to the BBC’s 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice, because I just had to know—why all the fuss over this Darcy guy? What followed my viewing of that glorious miniseries was an inhalation of and immediate fixation on all of Austen’s novels, though Pride and Prejudice remains my favorite (and that certain British actor will always be, to me, the quintessential Darcy).
My discovery of Jane Austen Fan Fiction in 2008 opened up a whole new fabulous world. There were people out there—lots and lots of people—who were just as obsessed with Austen’s novels and characters, and some of those people actually wrote stories that picked up where Austen’s left off, or re-imagined her stories altogether! Thus began my addiction, and months and months of sleep deprivation, as I immersed myself in the wonderful world of JAFF.
After reading a modern Pride and Prejudice variation that I fell in love with, I was inspired to begin a cautious but earnest foray into the world of writing, and I haven’t stopped. I’ve written three novel-length, modern Jane Austen variations—with another on the way—and two short stories. Sanctuary is my debut novel.
In real life, I’ve spent thirty-plus years working in healthcare. As a confirmed thalassophile, I enjoy life on the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where I grew up, fell in love with my own Mr. Darcy (who also has quite a bit of Mr. Bingley in him), and stayed put to raise a family. More often than not, you can find me at the beach with a book in my hand and my toes in the sand.
