In those moments, it almost felt as if time stood still, and he allowed himself to imagine a world where they could go back and pick up where they left off.

Elizabeth Bennet and Will Darcy first cross paths at a holiday fraternity party, where a less-than-ideal meeting sets the stage for a tale of love, loss, and second chances that spans two decades.
Will, an aspiring musician with a voice that could warm even the coldest winter night, embarks on a journey to turn his dream of a singing career into a reality.
Elizabeth, a determined young woman with career aspirations of her own, chooses to stay close to her roots and remain in the small college town that she loves.
Time and distance place unexpected strains on their love, leading to a painful decision to part ways. But years later, when fate reunites them, the embers of their flame flicker to life once more.
Will the magic of Christmas be enough to bring them back together?
Join Will and Elizabeth on a holiday journey of love and resilience in this contemporary reimagining of a classic tale.

Thoughts from readers:
“An Old Acquaintance” is a contemporary take on Pride and Prejudice, and while it gently hints at the original, those hints only provide a very basic framework from which an entirely new and engaging tale spins, one which explores a more modern long-distance relationship and the consequences of a break-up in ways that are relatable and sympathetic.
The story is tied together by the focus on the Christmas season throughout the years and it is warm, sentimental, wistful, and joyous in turns. It made for a very satisfying read. Add a hot beverage and a warm fire, and you have the perfect holiday gift!
In An Old Acquaintance, the reader has the basic construct of the P&P storyline to help fill in the blanks so that Cat Andrews can use her time and words to flesh out the important details that help thread the story together over the years. This novella is perfect holiday time reading, even if you have to sneak away in the midst of the chaos!
A great story to curl up with on a winter Holiday evening. Though shorter than her regular stories, Cat is able to envelop you into the characters (our favorite Elizabeth and Darcy!). It is a very emotional ride and captures how sliding door moments in our lives can have long, soul-affecting impact. Love this story!
